The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is truly amazing.

You could see this massive structure from almost anywhere in Bali. So we had to go there. The park is about 60 hectar according to their website and the main attraction the Garuda Visnu Kencana is about 120 m high. Its a statue of Lord Visnu riding the mystical bird Garuda. So its one of the largest statues in the world.

The park is really huge and like the Uluwatu Temple not wheelchair friendly as there is a lot of stairs. Its really hot there, don't forget your hat and bottled water. We spent almost 2 hours there. All through the park there are so many stunning statues. Based on the Balinese Hindu Culture. Even the landscape ia beautifully crafted.  The large statues of Visnu and Garuda are so beautiful and amazing.

Some facts from their website
"GARUDA WISNU KENCANA Cultural Park is a +/- 60ha area of cultural park located in Ungasan, Badung Regency. GWK Cultural Park offers a lavish Indonesian cultural heritage for years to come with the upcoming monumental Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue as the Indonesian Icon of civilization, the number one cultural icon in Bali.

Fun and Educational Family Activities in Malaysia

Every time I search for a getaway for my family, there are some criterias which I look for. I look for destinations are located close to food outlets, some retailers and also maybe a shopping mall as its much easier to search for all those things there. Travelling with little kids this is very important to us. Another item that I look for is whether there are fun as well as educational activities for my family there. I like to try different things each time. We have visited the Hot Air Balloon and Flower Festival in Putrajaya. And is looking forward for the International Fireworks competition there. Below are some of the enjoyment and Educational activities that we have visited. Some of the prices might fluctuate so its best to visit their website first before you go there.

Uluwatu Temple, Pecatu Bali

When in Bali, this is a must see place. The Uluwatu Temple is situated on a cliff with a mesmerizing view of the Indian Ocean. Its not wheelchair or baby buggy friendly and its a long stroll by the cliff with loads of stairs. But if you are able, don't miss this opportunity. There is an entrance fee at the entrance. Also, since its a sacred place you are required to cover the lower part of your body. You can get this cloth at the entrance and its free. Simply drop it into a box on the way out. Carry with you a hat and bottled water. Cause its very hot there. And also a good camera

Becareful, there are very cheeky and aggressive monkeys everywhere. I saw a tourist get her handphone snatched away. Just don't disturb them and keep your valuables in your pocket and move around in groups. Then you will be safe. A lot of tourist disturb them.

Amazing Rock Bar, Bali

A single word says everything. AMAZING . A dazzling bar perched off cliffs and built onto a few rocks rising up out of the ocean. The Rock Bar must be the work of somebody with impressive imagination and vision. The view is amazing. There is little section built into the cliff. The DJ counter and a few tables is located on a round cliff.

The best time to be here is when the sun sets. You can reach the bar via a tram. So there will be a neverending stream of people who come here, especially just prior to sunset. So advisable to be there early to secure a place.

Service as with everything at the Ayana is excellent.

Malaysia also has lots of fun places to visit. Visit my site to find out more

Mini Snips of Malaysia at Mini Malaysia Melaka

I visited the Mini Malaysia some time ago. Those days Air Keroh was just coming up. That was some 10 years ago.So this time I brought my two sons and a nephew here. Just to let them see the different Malaysian traditional houses. I also wanted to see the Mini Asean. Which was said to house different Asian Houses. But alas it was under renovation.

The Mini Malaysia gives you a great value for your money for the educational experience. There are 14 different types of “kampung” (village) houses of the 14 states in Malaysia. You can go into each house to get a feel of each house.

5 Ways to Plate your Food like the Masters

2. Play with color and texture.

As stated above, chefs prefer white dishes plates. With white plates they will play around with colours. My former manager one of my mentors in the restaurant industry. Mentioned that even for buffets you need to consider the colour of the food. If you put many of the same colour dishes on the buffet,  it is going to be boring and plain. Same goes with your dishes. Choose colourful foodstuffs to place but never make use of artificial colouring. Plan ahead before you start plating. A case in point is grilled fish, mashed potatoes and sauteed couliflower. All looking white and pale. You can include some baby carrots to the cauliflower or add an edible flower on the fish. Also a bowl of oatmeal will looking yummy, in the event that you chopped diced fruits. A word of advice. Make sure the presentation is not too elaborate that it might slow down your kitchen crew.
