Restaurant Review - Laksa Karim at Kuala Kangsar

Laksa Karim Stall at Kuala Kangsar Town

Kuala Kangsar folks love their laksa. You will see a laksa stall, shop or even a food truck at just about any corner around the town and even the outskirts. The Medan Selera by the riverside has more than ten stalls selling laksa and cendol. And its normally very full in the afternoons.
Being a resident of the Royal Town of Perak, my wife must visit her favourite laksa stall which is located by the side of a bakery, just infront of the Kuala Kangsar jetty.
So as always before we left her kampung, after the Hari Raya holidays. We stopped by Kuala Kangsar town for laksa.
For those that is not sure what is Laksa Kuala Kangsar is here's some info about it from Wikipedia.
"Kuala Kangsar Laksa (Malay: Laksa Kuala Kangsar), made of wheat flour (usually hand made). The soup is rather lighter than the common laksa taste and so much different from Ipoh Laksa in shape, taste and smell. The local municipal council even built a complex called "Kompleks Cendol dan Laksa" near the river bank of the Perak River. It is the main attraction for tourists in Kuala Kangsar." The Laksa Karim stall is located on the road leading to the jetty. Its just by the side of the Gemilang Bakery. Its a small stall with limited tables. So when we reach there, there were no seats available. Therefore we headed over to the Medan Cendol dan Laksa MPKK for cendol. Our favourite place for cendol is stall no 12 named Cendol Haji Talib. Next to it is the Laksa Taufik, their laksa is also quite nice. A bowl of cendol is great especially for a hot day.

Here's some info for those who are not sure what cendol is.
"Cendol /ˈtʃɛndɒl/ is a traditional dessert originating from Southeast Asia which is popular in Indonesia,[1] Malaysia,[2] Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma. The dessert's basic ingredients are coconut milk, jelly noodles made from rice flour with green food coloring (usually derived from the pandan leaf), shaved ice and palm sugar. Other ingredients such as red beans, glutinous rice, grass jelly, creamed corn, might also be included. " Source :- Cendol @ Wikipedia
After that we headed for the Laksa Karim Stall, where had what else Laksa Kuale. My wife loves her's with lots of chili padi. The laksa gravy here doesn't have the fishy taste which is good for a fussy eater like me. And it goes down well with a iced cold glass of cincau.

They are really upgrading the Royal Town. There's a new complex just across from the jetty for the Labu Sayong industry. The train station is even more comfortable and beautiful. Its one of the stop for the electric train from KL Sentral. Its less that 3 hours from Kuala Lumpur.

Royal Town of Kuala Kangsar
Kuala Kangsar is the royal town of the state of Perak in Malaysia. It is where the Sultanate of Perak and his family resides. It’s also the hometown of my other half and I like it’s relax laid back atmosphere. I like to relax there especially after a hectic week at work. Kuala Kangsar is about 30km from Ipoh. The other alternative way to get here is to by train; there is small railway station in the middle of the town.
